绿衣
Language: Chinese (中文)
Available translation(s): ENG
Notes from the researcher (Kairui Zhou): The text is from 诗经
(Classic [Collection] of Poems), a collection created between the 11th
and 7th centuries BCE (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classic_of_Poetry
[wikipedia] ). The source website was https://so.gushiwen.cn/gushi/shijing.aspx. This
type of ancient Chinese is written in an unbroken series of
characters, without modern punctuation, but the editor of the website
has added punctuation to provide a more structural feeling. We have changed the formatting
to allow the English translation to appear in parallel.

Green Garments
Language: English  after the Chinese (中文)
Green, oh garments green,
Green attire with yellow linings.
My heart is troubled,
How can this be resolved?
Green, oh garments green,
Green attire with yellow sash.
My heart is troubled,
How can this sorrow vanish?
Green, oh silk green,
Your very own product.
I yearn for my lost wife,
To prevent my misconduct.
Thin Ge cloth, oh thick Ge cloth,
Chilled by the wind.
I yearn for my lost wife,
Who wore my heart’s content.
Translator's note for stanza 4, line 1 (Ge cloth) : A type of cloth common during and after Xia Dynasty (2070-1600 BCE)
