In Nebel und Duft der Halde seh' ich dein Bildnis, es wird mir zum Zauberwalde die düstere Wildnis. Der Himmel mit Mond und Sternen liegt auf den Zweigen; es wird zu mir aus den Fernen das Glück sich neigen. Es dunkelt zugleich und sprühet im einsamen See, es nachtet mein Herz und glühet in Wonn' und Wehe. Es lispelt von dir in den Hainen, die Blumen klingen, o könnt' ich vor Freuden weinen, vor Schmerzen singen.

La lune, dans la clairière, caresse le flot dormant ; et ton regard, pure lumière, epanouit mon cœur aimant. J'écoute la plainte heureuse du chanteur des nuits : il conte à la fleur reveuse ses doux ennuis. La rose qui cause en mot parfume, soupire, mi-close, ton nom bien aimé.
