Solea quivi venir tra i profumi e gli'incanti, Cullata in mille sogni da un arcano desir Mentre udia tra i silenzi il suonar flebili i canti E scorrer l'onda del Bendemir. Or lontana, ahimé, da quel tepido lido Io penso: ritorneran le rose mie a fiorir? Delle notti il cantor gorgheggierà ancor fido In sulle sponde del Bendemir? No! Già il maggio passò, già la rosa avvizziva, Il triste rosignol è già presso a morir, Ed io non vedrò piú dalla sponda nativa L'onda d'argento del Bendemir.
