Ein Wand'rer in der Gassen, der acht' mein Fenster gar so wohl,
ich tät ihn gern was fragen, weiß nit, ob ich's soll.
"Herr Wandrer in der Gassen, ich hab' kein' Ruh', kein' Ruh' habt Ihr.
Will mir's doch keiner sagen, ob Ihr wollt zu mir."

In meiner stillen Gassen, das war vom Mond, so hell und bang,
Im Schlummer wollt' ich warten, bis das Fenster klang.
Aus einer stillen Gassen der Wandrer kam von ungefähr,
in einem silbern Garten zu Herzen mich und trösten sehr.

Pieśń dziewczęcia u okna

Włóczęga ciemnych ulic zatapia oczy w oknie mem,
 mam o co's go zapytać, nie wiem czyli śmiem.
 "Tułaczu ciemnych ulic, spokoju brak obojgu nam,
 a znikąd się nie dowiem czy was czekać mam?"

 A w cichą mą ulicę siał księżyc pełni czar i lęk,
 gdy drzemiąc w ciszy czekam, słyszę w oknie szmer.
 I z głębi ciemnych ulic włóczęga przybył dom nie w noc,
 w srebrzystym mi ogrodzie wsród pieszczot dał swych skarbów moc,
 radosci moc.
