by Richard Fedor Leopold Dehmel (1863 - 1920)

Käuzchenspiel
Language: German (Deutsch)
Kinder, kommt, verzählt euch nicht,
Jeder hat zehn Zehen;
wer die letzte Silbe kriegt,
der muß suchen gehen.
Suche, suche, warte noch,
Käuzchen schreit im Turmloch,
macht zwei Augen wie Feuerschein,
die leuchten in die Nacht hinein,
fliegt aus seinem Häuschen,
sucht im Feld nach Mäuschen,
husch, husch, huh,
das Käuzchen, das -- bist -- du! --

Confirmed with Der Kindergarten von Richard Dehmel. Gedichte Spiele und Geschichten für Kinder und Eltern Jeder Art, Erste Ausgabe, Berlin, S. Fischer, page 18.
