Letzter Segen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Zur höchsten Firn', in's tiefste Thal
Am holdsten blickt die Sonne;

Last blessing
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
To the highest snows, to the deepest valley
The sun gazes most beautifully;
Ah! even with its last beams it wishes
To bestow all bliss!
Already night approaches; suddenly the heights
Glow one last time in the dark,
And down below how beautifully, how beautifully
The tops of the firs sparkle!
Yea! what the world forgot in sorrow,
What soared too high for it,
How faithfully has God nevertheless
At all times drawn it gently to His heart!
