So scheiden wir mit Sang und Klang
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG

  In seiner Abendruh;
Die Wipfel möcht' er neigen,
Er rauschet mit den Zweigen,
  Lebt wohl! ruft er uns zu.

Thus we depart with singing and ringing
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Thus we depart with singing and ringing:
  Farewell, you beautiful forest!
With your cool shadows,
With your green meadows,
  You sweet place of sojourning!

Upon the homeward way yet we sing
  A song of gratitude:
Invite us again, as you did today,
To the scent of leaves and to songs
  In the beautiful time of May!

Look hither! from afar the forest still hears it
  In its evening rest;
It wishes to incline its treetops,
It soughs with its branches,
  It calls Farewell! to us.
