Da gehen viel' Männer und Frauen,
Die alle so lustig sehn,
Die fahren und lachen und bauen,
Daß mir die Sinne vergehn.
Oft wenn ich bläuliche Streifen
Säh' über die Dächer fliehn,
Sonnenschein draußen schweifen,
Wolken am Himmel ziehn:
Da treten mitten im Scherze

Camino pels carrers foscos
i vaig de casa en casa,
no me’n puc avenir
tot sembla tan trist aquí.
Passen molts homes i dones
que semblen tots ben feliços,
ells viatgen i riuen i conreen,
em fan perdre els sentits.
Sovint quan veig bandes blavoses
voleiar damunt les teulades,
la llum del sol vagarejar a fora,
passar els núvols al cel:
aleshores, enmig de la joia,
els ulls se m’omplen de llàgrimes,
car els que m’estimen de tot cor,
són tots lluny d’aquí.
