Ging heut morgen übers Feld, Tau noch auf den Gräsern hing; Sprach zu mir der lust'ge Fink: "Ei du! Gelt? Guten Morgen! Ei gelt? Du! Wird's nicht eine schöne Welt? Zink! Zink! Schön und flink! Wie mir doch die Welt gefällt!" Auch die Glockenblum' am Feld Hat mir lustig, guter Ding', Mit den Glöckchen, klinge, kling, Ihren Morgengruß geschellt: "Wird's nicht eine schöne Welt? Kling, kling! Schönes Ding! Wie mir doch die Welt gefällt! Heia!" Und da fing im Sonnenschein Gleich die Welt zu funkeln an; Alles Ton und Farbe gewann Im Sonnenschein! Blum' und Vogel, groß und klein! "Guten Tag, ist's nicht eine schöne Welt? Ei du, gelt? Schöne Welt?" Nun fängt auch mein Glück wohl an? Nein, nein, das ich mein', Mir nimmer blühen kann!

Andavo stamattina per la campagna, la rugiada era ancora sull'erba; mi disse l'allodola lieta: "Ehi, tu! Eh? Buon giorno! Ehi, tu! Non è bello il mondo? Mondo bello!? Cip, cip! Bello e allegro! Quanto mi piace il mondo!" Anche la campanula sul prato, con umore buono e allegro, col suo dolce scampanio, mi ha cantato il saluto del mattino: Non è bello il mondo? Mondo bello!? Din, don! Che bella cosa! Quanto mi piace il mondo! Aha!" E cominciò alla luce del sole subito il mondo a splendere; tutto, tutto prese suono e colore alla luce del sole! Fiori e uccelli, grandi e piccoli! Buon giorno, buon giorno! Non è bello il mondo? Ehi, tu! Eh? Mondo bello!? Ora comincerebbe anche la mia buona sorte?! No! No! Quello che desidero, non fiorirà mai!
