An die Grille
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Zirpe, liebe kleine
Sängerin der Haine,
zirpe nur in Ruh'!
Wollen dich nicht stören,
laß dein Liedchen hören,
sing' nur immer zu, immer, immer zu!

Grillchen! Erdenfreuden
bleichen bald und scheiden
oft in einem Nu;
sollst dich drum nich scheuen,
sollst dich herzlich freuen,
sing' nur immer zu, immer, immer zu!

Wenn an grünen Spitzen
Perlen Taues blitzen,
trinkst, o Sänger, du!
und versingst den Morgen,
unterm Moos verborgen,
sing' nur immer zu, immer, immer zu!

Eh' der Abend tauet,
ach, vielleicht umgrauet
dich des Grabes Ruh'!
drum am Blumenhügel
sonne deine Flügel,
sing' nur immer zu, immer, immer zu!

To the cricket
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Chirp, sweet little
Singer of the groves,
simply chirp in peace!
You will not disturb anyone,
let your little song be heard,
only always sing, always, always!

Little cricket! Earthly joys
soon pale and fade,
often very quickly;
so you shouldn't be shy,
you should heartily rejoice,
only always sing, always, always!

If on grass blades
Pearls of dew flash,
drink, o you singers!
and sing through the morning,
hidden beneath the moss,
only always sing, always, always!

Before the evening dew arrives,
oh, perhaps you dread
the grave-like silence!
so on the flowery-hill
bathe your wings in sunlight,
only always sing, always, always!
