      Ya no juego en las praderas y temo columpiarme con las mozas. 
Soy como la rama con fruto.

       Estoy débil, tan débil que el olor de las rosas me hizo desvanecer 
esta siesta,  cuando bajé al jardín, 
y un simple canto que viene en el viento o la gota de sangre 
que tiene la tarde en su último latido sobre el cielo, me turban, 
me anegan de dolor.  De la sola mirada de mi dueño, 
si fuera dura para mí esta noche, podría morir.

Schon spiel ich nicht mehr auf den Wiesen und fürchte mich, 
zu schaukeln mit den Mädchen.
Ein einfacher Gesang, der mit dem Wind kommt, 
verwirrt mich und tränkt mich in Schmerz.
Mein ganzes Herz ist ehrfürchtig, seit es das Geheimnis trägt.
Ich sage über es, das da schlummert in mir, 
sag' Stund’ um Stunde ewige Strophen.
Ich webe in diesem Schweigen, in dieser Stille, 
ich webe einen wundersamen Körper.
Ich lege Rosen auf meinen Leib. Ich gleiche dem fruchtbeladenen Zweig.
