by Pieter Cornelis Boutens (1870 - 1943)

De ziel spreekt
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)
Lijd getroost; want ik zal klaren,
Eer uw tranen zijn vervuld,
Tot den lach die al uw jaren
In zijn éenen luister hult.

Laat door venstren van uw oogen
Open steeds in lach of leed,
Tot mij binnen die bewogen
Licht van God, dat leven heet:

Als de zon den morgenregen
In den middag achterhaalt,
Tot de wereld allerwegen
Van hun éenen luister straalt,

Zal het masker uwer trekken,
Vóor het in den dood verstijft,
Nog mijn eigen glorie dekken,
Die u tot den einde blijft.

Na den klaren avondluister
Van uw oogen en uw mond
Wachten door hetzelfde duister
Wij denzelfden morgenstond.
