duftet mir entgegen 
Wie des Sommers leicht 
Gespalt'ner Purpurmund;
Und ich neige das Haupt
Dem süßen Atem 
Und trinke und trinke.
Holde Bilder süßer Vergänglichkeit
Duftet mir zu des Daseins 
Unendlichen Wonnen,
Voller warmer, heiliger, 
Seliger Atem des Lebens
Flute über mich hin...
Und ich berausche mich 
An eurem Odem
Und trinke aus rosigen Kelchen 
Purpurne [Ströme]¹ von Duft 
Und von Schönheit 
Und ich vergesse,
Holdselige Bilder 
Süßer Vergänglichkeit,
Daß wir nicht ewig sind,
Nicht ihr und nicht ich - 
Und ich trinke, trinke.

com la boca purpúria de l’estiu 
lleugerament desclosa;
i jo inclino el cap
vers la dolça alenada
i bec i bec.
Imatges encisadores d’una dolça fugacitat
em flairegen a l’existència
de delícies infinites,
m’inunda de ple el càlid,
sagrat, benaurat,
hàlit de la vida...
I jo m’inebrio
amb el vostre hàlit
i dels calzes rosats
bec els purpuris dolls de perfum
i de beutat
i oblido,
imatges encisadores
d’una dolça fugacitat,
car nosaltres no som eterns,
ni jo ni vosaltres –
i bec, i bec.
