Sprühende Funken, verlodernder Brand,
Keuchendes Drängen bis tief in die Nacht,
Keuchende Brust in endloser Qual
Aber dann wehe, wehe der Macht!

Funkelnder Ampeln verschatteter Schein,
Trunkenes Toben, goldperlender Wein.
Lächelnde Sünde in gleißendem Glanz,
Heißa, Trompeten zum Tanz, zum Tanz!

Schamlose Schönheit mit leuchtendem Blick,
Knisternde Seide, verzückte Musik;
Purpurne Gürtel auf weißem Gewand,
Purpurne Gürtel in zitternder Hand.

Dröhnender Hämmer gewaltiger Takt,
Hei, wie die Zange, die glühende packt!
Surrende Räder wann endet die Nacht?
Aber dann wehe, wehe der Macht!

Martells que retrunyen en mans cobertes de sutge,
espurnes guspirejant, foc que flameja,
embat panteixant fins al més profund de la nit,
pits que panteixen en una agonia sense fi,
però aleshores, maleït, maleït sigui el poder!

Llums espurnejants d’ombrívola resplendor,
tumult d’embriaguesa, vi daurat escumós.
Pecats que somriuen en brillant esclat,
apa, trompetes per a la dansa, per a la dansa!

Bellesa impúdica amb esguard lluminós,
seda que fa fru-fru, música encisadora;
cinturons porpres damunt vestits blancs,
cinturons porpres en mans tremoloses.

Martells retrunyint en potent compàs,
ei, com enxarpa la tenalla el ferro roent!
Rodes brunzint, quan s’acaba la nit!
Però aleshores, maleït, maleït sigui el poder.
