by Hans Heinrich Ehrler (1872 - 1951)

Des Mönches Abschied von den Geleite Gebenden
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Gehet nun, gehet nun fort!
Lasset mich schließen die Tür!
Sehet, ich zeichne ein Kreuz
Euch in die Lüfte nach.

Oben mein Fenster noch schaut
Eueren Wegen drein.
Freunde, wo ihr euch trennt,
Letztes Mal blicket zurück!

Abendlich grüßenden Blick
Nehmet von meinem Berg!
Auge füll Auge mit Licht,
Daß es sich immer erkennt.

Scheidende Rede im Ohr
Bleibe Gedenkens Musik.
Hören wir wieder den Ton,
Ist er geworden zum Lied.
