Der Regen spinnt
Sein graues Lied
     Von Sehnsucht und
     Von schwerem Weh.

Von Träumen blind
Alleinseins müd
     Bin ich ein Hund
     Und -- geh'.

Verlosch'nes Gold
Und toter Traum
     Von Liebe sieht
     Mich an und schweigt.

Und um mich rollt
Schillernder Schaum --
     Die Sehnsucht zieht
     Und -- geigt.

Der Herbst ist da
Und weint mich an
     Mit Augen, die
     Erloschen sind.

Ich weiß, er sah:
Das Glück verrann,
     Zwang mich ins Knie
     Und -- ging.
