Der Regen spinnt
Sein graues Lied
Von Sehnsucht und
Von schwerem Weh.
Von Träumen blind
Alleinseins müd
Bin ich ein Hund
Und -- geh'.
Verlosch'nes Gold
Und toter Traum
Von Liebe sieht
Mich an und schweigt.
Und um mich rollt
Schillernder Schaum --
Die Sehnsucht zieht
Und -- geigt.
Der Herbst ist da
Und weint mich an
Mit Augen, die
Erloschen sind.
Ich weiß, er sah:
Das Glück verrann,
Zwang mich ins Knie
Und -- ging.

The rain spins out
Its grey song
Of yearning and
Of heavy woe.
Blinded by dreams
Weary of being alone
I am a dog
And -- go.
Extinguished gold
And a dead dream
Of love gazes
At me and is silent.
And around me rolls
Scintillating foam --
Yearning pulls [at me]
And -- fiddles.
Autumn is here
And weeps at me
With eyes that
Have been extinguished.
I know, it saw:
Happiness dissipated,
Forced me to my knees
And -- departed.
