Med pibende Tauge i Sus og i Rokk
det gaar gjennem Natten for Stumper og Fok,
mens Morilden brænder, der Kjølen drog . . .
og Sjøerne følger i lysende Kog.

Det gaar over Hav med Bakken i Sprøit . . .
mens Baugen løfter sig himmelhøit - -
og synker i Bølgen med Fos og med Brag
og baner sig Vei i den dæmrende Dag.

Det gaar gjennem Nat og i Morildbrand;
men snart stiger Sol over Kimingens Rand.
Det piber i Rig, og det gviner i Blok,
det bærer mod Syden for Stumper og Fok.

Mit pfeifenden Tauen in sausender Hast,
so geht's durch die Nacht ohne Ruhe und Rast,
das Meerleuchten glüht, wo der Schiffs Kiel flog,
und es folget der Furche ein schimmernd Gewog.

Das geht über's Meer umspritzt und umsprüht,
es steigt schier himmelhoch auf der Spries,
und sinkt in die Wogen mit lautem Gekrach
und bahnt sich den Weg durch den dämmernden Tag.

Das geht durch die Nacht und den Meerflutbrand,
schon zeigt sich die Sonne am Kimmings Rand.
Das pfeift und das heulet im Tauwerk und Seil,
so geht es gen Süden in rasender Eil'.
