Flieder

Lilacs
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Leave for me the blooming lilac bouquet
Standing in the room overnight.
Then I shall gently close the window
So that its scents cannot escape.
If they flow about my senses,
Pour themselves into my soul with May-time trepidation,
Encompass my slumber, alleviate the agony,
Perhaps in the lilac scent I can dream
My springtime one last time.
