Weinend still blick' ich hinab
hier ins off'ne, dunkle Grab,
wo ein Herz, das warm geschlagen,
starr und kalt seit wenig Tagen,
jetzt dem Staub man übergab.

Weine still! Weinte einst
Jesus selbst wie jetzt du weinst,
wird er's mild auch dir gewähren,
wenn du trauernd heiße Zähren
liebend mit Gebet vereinst.

„Weine nicht!“ Trosteswort
sprach der Herr zu Naim dort.
Lass verstummen bitt're Klagen,
Trost im Leid wird nie versagen
unser Heiland fort und fort.

„Dulde still!“ Beug' dein Haupt!
Küss' die Hand, die dich beraubt!
Wandle treu den Weg der Frommen,
willst du einst zum Heiland kommen,
eher, als du selbst geglaubt.

Plorant esguardo cap a baix
aquí, a la tomba oberta i fosca,
on un cor que càlidament bategava,
ert i fred des de fa pocs dies,
ara és lliurat a esdevenir pols.

Plora en silenci, en altre temps
Jesús plorava com tu ara plores,
també amb tu ell serà benigne
si tu, ple de dol, uneixes a la pregària
les teves càlides llàgrimes.

“No ploris pas!” Paraula de conhort
que allí el Senyor digué a Naïm.
Fes emmudir els amargs planys,
el conhort en la sofrença no farà fallir
jamai el nostre Salvador.

“Endura en silenci!” Acota el cap!
Besa la mà que et desposseeix!
Segueix fidelment el camí dels pietosos,
si un dia vols arribar al Salvador,
abans del que havies pensat.
