Der Apfel
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Moravian (Moravština)
Available translation(s): ENG
From the Simrock edition of Dvořák's op. 38.

The apple
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Shine amiably, dear moon, when I wander upon the heights,
So that my beloved may see which way I go.
If I take the low road, or go upon the ridge of the mountain,
She shall weep, lament much, my beloved maiden.
A red apple rolls along, rolling so rapidly,
It does not roll far enough to my darling's threshold.
Finally it does reach her after all, brings my parting greeting:
I commend you to God; wait for me, you beloved maiden.
