Nüsse knacken
Language: German (Deutsch)
Holler, boller Rumpelsack --
Niklas trug sie huckepack,
Weihnachtsnüsse gelb und braun,
runzlig, punzlig anzuschaun.
Knackt die Schale, springt der Kern:
Weihnachtsnüsse eß ich gern.
Komm bald wieder in dies Haus,
guter alter Nikolaus!

Cracking nuts
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Rumple, bumple, sack full of things --
Nicholas carried them upon his back,
Christmas nuts, yellow and brown,
wrinkled, cute to see.
If the shell cracks, the kernel pops out:
I like to eat Christmas nuts.
Come to this house again soon,
good old Nicholas!
