Dehnt sich über Flur und Hain;

Du allein willst freudlos sein?

Junge Blüten flüstern leise
Durch die Nacht wie Harfenweh'n
Fromme, ahnungsvolle Weise,
Und es klingt wie: Auferstehn!

Herz, mein Herz, laß ab zu klagen,
Herz, mein Herz, so sing auch du!
Laß dein Bangen, laß dein Zagen,
Denn auch dir wird Trost und Ruh.

Was an Freuden dir geschwunden,
Was an Liebe dir gebricht, --
Blick empor! -- auch deine Wunden
Sie vergißt der Himmel nicht.

With sweet shivers the springtime night 
Stretches over field and grove;
Heart, my heart, only you wish to mourn,
You alone wish to be without joy?

Young blossoms quietly whisper 
Through the night like the wafting of a harp
A devout, prescient melody
And it sounds like: Resurrection!

Heart, my heart, leave off lamenting,
Heart, my heart, you sing as well!
Leave your anxiety, leave your trepidation,
For you too shall find comfort and rest.

Whatever joys have vanished for you,
Whatever you lack of love, --
Gaze upward! -- your wounds as well
Heaven shall not forget.
