Am Teiche
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG

Hör' ich euch singen, seh' ich euch gleiten;

By the pond
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
  You my bliss, you my happiness,
Surging pond by the wild shrubbery!
  With a darkening eye you see me approach,
Familiar as a fairy-tale you gaze at me!

  Merry waves! ah, as in past times
I hear you sing, see you glide;
  Greening branches, flower full of glow
[I see you] gracefully inclining yourself toward the waters!

  Take them, my anxieties, carry them down,
Ah! how my heart immediately beats so cheerfully!
  And that which still troubles me, waves, at this hour,
Let it be submerged deep upon the bottom!

  You my bliss, you my happiness,
Surging pond by the wild shrubbery!
  Yes! as formerly yet, you see me approach,
Healingly and comfortingly you gaze at me!
