  Wieder mal grünt die Au, 
Ach! wie so sonnig! 
Wieder mal grüßt das Blau 
Nieder so wonnig!

  Wieder mal hallt die Luft
Allwärts von Liedern! 
Wieder mal Wald und Kluft 
Keck sie erwiedern! 
  Wieder mal Tag und Nacht
Fächeln die Weste,
Hüten die Blüthenpracht
Sorglich auf's beste!

  Wieder mal Frühling ist's, 
Ach! wie vor Jahren! 
Jauchzend mein Herz vergißt's, 
Was es erfahren! 
  Fliegt aus der frohen Brust 
Durch das Gewimmel 
Ach! wie dereinst vor Lust 
Gradaus gen Himmel!

Ah, as in years past!
Rejoicing, my heart forgets
What it has experienced!
  The meadow grows green again,
Ah, so sunnily,
Once more the blueness pours greetings 
Down [upon us] so blissfully!

  Again the air everywhere
Resounds with songs!
Again forest and chasm
Audaciously echo them back!
  Again day and night
Are fanned by the west wind,
Doing their best to guard 
The splendour of the blossoms tenderly!

  It is spring again,
Ah, as in years past!
Rejoicing, my heart forgets
What it has experienced!
  It flies from my happy breast
Through the [springtime] bustle
Ah, for joy as in years past,
Straight toward Heaven!
