In summer woods
Language: English
Available translation(s): DUT
How jubilant the summer sky,
when turtle doves and cuckoos cry,
And when in wild and leafy wood
the song of nightingale is heard.
We wander in the shady grove,
and where red berries are we rove;
The ousel pipes his music low
and finches drum upon the bough.
Beside the blackcap vine we stay
on tender moss where shadows play
And flitting by, the cuckoo's brood
go babbling through the leafy wood.

In zomerse bossen
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)  after the English
Hoe verrukkelijk is de zomerlucht
als duiven koeren en de koekoek klinkt.
En als in wild en weelderig woud
de nachtegaal zijn lied zingt.
Wij dwalen in het schaduwrijke bos
En plukken rode bessen los
De merel laat zijn lied zacht klinken
En op de tak tikken vinken.
Wij blijven bij de frambozenstruik
op 't zachte mos en schaduwrijk
En het koekoeksjong, heel gepast,
Gaat kwet'rend door het blad loofbos.
