sometimes misattributed to A. Brandes and by Gustava Sophia Agneta Zinck, née Raddatz (1821 - 1895)

Die Thräne
Language: German (Deutsch)
Wohl war es eine Seligkeit,
wohl war es eine Lust,
wie ich dereinst in schöner Zeit
geruht an Deiner Brust;
doch hat uns nicht die Lieb' allein,
und hat der Schmerz vereint,
die Thräne, die vergess' ich nie,
die Du um mich geweint.

Der Vögel Sang verstummt im Hain
und öd' ist Berg und Thal,
so fällt nun auf mein trübes Sein
der letzte Sonnenstrahl.
Doch ist vom Glück, was ich geträumt,
auch jede Spur verweht;
die Thräne bleibt mir immer noch,
die Du um mich geweint.

Note: the misattribution to A. Brandes appears to come from a Kücken edition. It can also be found in the Musikalien-catalog von Heinrichshofen's Verlag in Magdeburg, for the J. Witt entry.
