Und wenn ich mit leuchtenden Sternen verglich,
O Mädchen, Dein Augenpaar,
Und mit hellfunkelnder Sonnen Licht,
So fühl' ich, daß falsch dies und wahr.

Denn für Sterne sind Deine Augen zu groß,
Für Sonnen sind sie zu klein,
Doch haben von diesen das Feuer sie,
Von jenen den milden Schein.

I feel that this is both true and false.

For your eyes are too big to be stars,
