Du hehre Frau, du bleiches Bild,
Dein Aug' ist trüb von Thränen. 
Du weinest, härmst dich ab in Gram,
Da Neid all' unser Glück uns nahm  -- 
Ich knirsche mit den Zähnen.   

Der Himmel ist grau, mein Herz ist stark,
In meinen Gliedern edles Mark  -- 
Laß' die Klag', d'ran sich Feinde erbauen.
