Blasen Novemberwetter,
Dämmern sie still bei trauter Glut.

Wo ist mein Haus? mein Garten?
Herbstliche Stürme schaurig wehn.

Eisigen Wege der Sorge gehn?

Drüben, von drüben strömt Duft mir:
Über den Wolken steht mein Haus!

bloom around the old people's home,

Servants and maids serve them,
work has become too hard for them.

Grapes and withered leaves
they like to pick in the sun,

If November storms blow,
they fade quietly in cozy warmth.

Where is my house? my garden?
Autumn storms blow horribly.

Must I always walk the hard,
icy path of sorrow?

Yonder, from yonder flows a scent to me:
over the clouds is my house!

A comforting voice calls to me:
