Kindesgruss von drüben
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG
O weine nicht! -- Was sollt' ich länger wallen

A child's greeting from the beyond
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Oh do not weep! I have not died for you!
An eternally joyful life has dawned for me!
Oh if you could see the wreath I have attained.
It would immediately still your flowing tears.
Here peace dwells, eternal light shines
Oh, do not weep! --
Oh do not weep! Why should I have tarried any longer
In the dark land, where death and sin frightens you?
My lot has been cast most gloriously:
My palm branch greens, my garment is unsullied.
In rapture I gaze upon God's face.
Oh, do not weep! --
Oh do not weep! See how the years are passing,
An angel shall soon carry you, too, over here to me.
You shall find me joyful among the blessed,
And then no death shall ever separate us again.
Therefore lift your face piously up to the Lord
And do not weep!
