l'una renta bugada,
més ai, l'altra l'estén,

L'altra cull violetes,
més ai, pel fill del rei.
Fill del rei passejava,
més ai, sobre el pont d'or,
que més ai, sobre el pont d'or.

Tira una pedra a l'aigua,
més ai, toca l'amor,
la toca ben tocada,
més ai, del mig del cor,
que més ai, del mig del cor.

There were once three maidens,
oh dear! under the golden bridge;
one of them does the washing,
and, oh dear! the other hangs it out,
oh dear! the other hangs it out. 

Another is picking violets,
oh dear! for the king's son.
The king's son is walking,
oh dear! over the golden bridge,
oh dear! over the golden bridge. 

He throws a pebble into the water,
but oh dear! it touches Love,
and hits it directly,
oh dear! right in the middle of the heart,
right in the middle of the heart.
