Da kennt so ein Mann nun die halbe Welt
Und weiß nicht, wie man ein Kindchen hält
Und hat von den allernothwendigsten Sachen
Noch gar keine Ahnung -- es ist zum Lachen. --
Und das will nun für den preußischen Staat
Über Frauen und Kinder Gesetze machen!

The papa

And doesn't know how to hold a child
And of the most essential things
He has not a clue -- it makes one laugh. --
And such a one wants to make laws
For the Prussian state to govern women and children!
