by Peter Cornelius (1824 - 1874)

Honig mag den Lippen munden
Language: German (Deutsch)
Honig mag den Lippen munden,
Aber Gift muß uns verwunden,
Und wenn nun auf einmal trifft
Honig uns und süßes Gift,
Sag' wie soll das arme Herz gesunden?

Träume nach in vollen Stunden,
Was du augenblicks empfunden,
Fasse in ein klingend Lied,
Was dir flücht'ges Glück beschied
Und am vollen Klang wirst du gesunden.
