Waldmeister steckt sein Köpfchen heraus, Das lustige Waldmeisterlein; Dann pflücken wir bald einen vollen Strauß, Dann trinken wir Maienwein! Und trinken wir lustigen Maienwein, Sind auch die Lauben grün; Wie glänzend wallt der goldne Rhein, Wie rot die Röslein blühn! Und glühn die Röslein rosenrot, Dann fügen wir Paar an Paar, Die blühn -- o seliger Liebestod! -- In des Mägdleins lockigem Haar. Mein Mägdlein glüht wie von jungem Wein, Schaut süß verwirrt mich an -- Soll das nicht der mahnende Frühling sein, Hilf Gott, was ist es dann?
