  Durch Harmonie verwandt!
Wir bieten Euch zum Gruße
  Nach Deutscher Art die Hand.
Das Herz schlägt Euch entgegen,
  Und was der Seel' entquillt,
Strömt rauschend in die Lüfte
  Und wird zum Tongebild.

Vereint in edlem Streben
  Soll unser Ziel heut' sein,
Des Tages flücht'ge Stunden
  Zum Blüthenkranz zu reih'n.
Laßt tönen Eure Lieder,
  Sie füllen uns mit Lust 
Und werden Echoklänge
  In frohbewegter Brust! 

Denn wo sich Sänger finden
  Im großen Vaterland,
Da webt der Töne Zauber
  Um sie ein festes Band! 
Drum preisen wir die Stunde,
  Die Euch herüberzog;
Seid nochmals uns willkommen,

  Related to us through harmony!
In greeting we extend to you
  Our hand in the German manner.
Our hearts beat toward you,
  And that which wells forth from our souls
Streams into the air with a rushing
  And becomes a structure of musical tones.

United in noble striving
  Our goal today is 
To twine the fleeting hours
  Of the day into a wreath of blossoms.
Let your songs resound,
  They fill us with joy
And become echoing music
  In our joyfully moved breast!

For where singers find each other
  In the vast fatherland,
There the magic of tones weaves
  A firm bond around them!
Therefore, we praise the hour
  That called you hither;
Once again be welcome to us,
