Beschütz mein Lieb im fremden Land
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG

O lasse mir mein Lieb, mein Lieb!

Führ sie zum schönen Heimathland
Zurück an deiner treuen Hand!
Du starker Gott, erhör mein Flehn,
Und laß mich froh sie wiedersehn!

Protect my love in foreign lands
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Protect my love in foreign lands,
Oh Lord, with Thy strong hand!
By day and night, at every turn
Send Thy holy angels to accompany her!

With the best gift of Thy blessing
Reward her for her kindnesses to me!
My loving is too poor and weak,
Oh, bless her a thousandfold!

For Thou hast Thyself given me
My treasure, worth more than everything,
And, how I thank Thee!, Thou hast made me
So joyful and rich through its adornment!

Yes, besides Thee, my God and Lord,
I know of nothing that is dearer to me!
Though nothing of worldly goods should remain to me,
Oh [only] leave me my love, my love!

Lead her back to her beautiful homeland
By Thy faithful hand!
Thou mighty God, hear my pleading,
And let me joyfully see her again!
