Ahora sé para qué he recibido veinte veranos la luz sobre mí y me ha sido dado cortar las flores por los campos. ¿Por qué, me decía en los días más bellos, este don maravilloso del sol cálido y de la yerba fresca? Como al racimo azulado, me traspasó la luz para la dulzura que entregaría. Este que en el fondo de mí está haciéndose gota a gota de mis venas, éste era mi vino. Para éste yo recé, por traspasar del nombre de Dios mi barro, con el que se haría. Y cuando leí un verso con pulsos trémulos, para él me quemó como una brasa la belleza, por que recoja de mi carne su ardor inextinguible.
