Les vitres tintent.

Le vent de Mai fait dans le parc un bruit d'automne.
Une porte, en battant sans fin, grince une plainte
Mineure et monotone.
Il pleut... 

On dirait par moments qu'un million d'épingles 
Se heurte aux vitres et les cingles.
Il pleut, 
Les vitres tintent.

Le ciel cache un à un ses coins légers de bleu
Sous de rapides nuées grises.
Il pleut :
-- La vie est triste !

N'importe ! 
Souffle le vent, batte la porte,
Tombe la pluie ! 
N'importe !

J'ai dans mes yeux une clarté qui m'éblouit ;
J'ai dans ma vie un grand espace bleu ;
J'ai dans mon cœur un jardin vert, ombré de palmes
Que balancent en plein azur les brises calmes :
Je songe à elle !
