Ne peut plus soutenir dans l'azur, leur patrie,
Et qui tombent sanglants... et brisés sur le sol !

Brusquement arrêtés dans l'essor de leur vol,
Précipités du haut de l'espérance morte,
Les plus chers de mes vœux agonisent.

Qu'importe ? J'ai souffert !
Qu'importe ? J'ai pleuré !
Mais, je n'ai pas maudit...
Ne crois pas que l'amour que je t'ai donné meure !

Rudely stopped in the soaring of their flight,
Pushed from the heights of dead hope,
My dearest wishes are dying.
