Kein Strahl der Morgensonne kann mich laben.

[Wann]2 Tote steigen aus dem Schoß der Grüfte,
Dann schweb' ich träumend über Höh'n und Klüfte,
Die mich so fern von dir [gedränget]4 haben.

Durch den verbotnen Garten darf ich gehen,
Durch Türen wandl' ich, die mir sonst verriegelt,
Bis zu der Schönheit stillem Heiligtume.

Erschreckt dich Geisterhauch, du zarte Blume?

Aucun rayon de soleil matinal ne peut me rafraîchir.

Quand les vivants s'abandonnent au sommeil,
Quand les morts émergent du sein des cryptes,
Je plane en rêvant au-dessus  des monts et des gouffres
Qui m'ont repoussé si loin de toi.

Je peux aller dans les jardins interdits,
Je vais par les portes qui autrement me seraient fermées,
Jusqu'au silencieux sanctuaire de la beauté.

Le souffle d'un esprit t'effraie-t-il, délicate fleur ?
C'est le zéphyr de l'amour qui t'entoure de ses ailes !
Adieu ! Je dois retourner au tombeau, les coqs chantent.
