Koe‑Koe

'Koe-koe', de Leye omtrent
is alles, allenthenen,
belegwerkt en bezomerblomd:
en 't aarderijk verdwenen.

'Koe-koe,' de groene wee,
zoo verre ik kan bespichten,
liep overal de zonne, met
heur zelvergeld, bezichten.

'Koe-koe,' de koekoetblom,
vermenigd in de meie,
zie 'k varen heen en weêr, alom,
en zwaaien lijk een Leye.

'Koe-koe,' de Leye langs,
en kan ik onderscheiden
of 't baren zijn of blommen, die
mijn' zwervende ooge leiden.

'Koe-koe,' de koekoet roept
herhaaldemaal, daartusschen,
nen boom entwaar bezittende, in
de verre verre busschen.
