Wiegenlied
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG
Kindlein schlaf in süsser Ruh',
Schliesse sanft die Äuglein zu;
Liege still im Bettelein,
Falte auch die Händchen dein,
Wenn du artig bist und gut,
Setzen sich zu deiner Hut
Engelein an's Bettelein,
Singen dich in Träume ein.
Bringen Lämmchen, Hottopferd,
Reiter, Puppen, Helm und Schwert,
Spielen bis der Tag erwacht
Mit dem Kind die ganze Nacht.
Kindlein schlafe eilig ein,
Denn die lieben Engelein
Kommen nur zur Traumeszeit,
Still! Schon rauscht ihr weisses Kleid.

Cradle song
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Little child, sleep in sweet peace,
Gently close your eyes;
Lie still in your little bed,
And fold your hands as well,
If you are well-behaved and good,
Little angels will seat themselves upon your bed
To watch over you,
[They will] sing you into dreams.
They will bring little lambs, a hobby horse,
Riders, dolls, a helmet and a sword,
Until the day awakes
They will play with the child all night long.
Little child, go to sleep quickly,
For the dear little angels
Only come during dreamtime,
Quiet! Their white garments are already rustling [as they near].
