Der Hirt
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT DUT ENG FRE
Du Thurm! zu meinem Leide
Ragst du so hoch empor,
Und mahnest grausam immer
An [sie, die]1 ich verlor.

Sie hängt an einem Andern,
Und wohnt im Weiler dort.
Mein armes Herz verblutet,
Vom schärfsten Pfeil durchbohrt.

In ihren [braunen]2 Augen
War keiner Untreu Spur;
[Aus ihnen sprachen Liebe
Und holde Anmuth]3 nur.

Wohin ich [nun mich]4 wende -
Der Thurm, er folget mir;
O sagt' er, statt der Stunden,
Was mich vernichtet, ihr!

De herder
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)  after the German (Deutsch)
Jij toren die daar oprijst,
Jij stoort mij altijd door,
Herinnert wreed mij telkens
Aan dat wat ik verloor.

Zij hangt nu aan een ander,
En woont daar in dat oord.
Mijn arme hart, dat bloedt maar,
Door de1 scherpste pijl doorboord.

Want in haar mooie ogen
Was voor geen ontrouw plaats,
Ik zag slechts liefdes hemel
En liefheid daar weerkaatst.

Waarheen ik mij wil wenden,
De toren staat steeds daar;
Riep hij maar niet de uren,
Maar wat mij sloopt naar haar!
