Das verirrte Wölkchen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG FRE
Das Herz steht mir in Bangen still --
Mir ist, als säh' ich's fallen!

The lost cloudlet
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
A cloudlet wanders along the sky,
Lost and forlorn,
With its beam-hand, the moon
Tries to grasp it by its garb.
But the cloudlet runs and runs,
Its mind is all confused,
In play it has strayed much too far
From the right path.
I see it now only as a little dot
Wandering along the horizon,
My heart stands still in anxiety --
It seems to me that I saw it falling!
