Nur aus Dunst und bösem Trug gebraut!
Diese Nacht im dumpfen Fieberwahne
Hab ich meinen Gatten angeschaut;
Blaß von Angesicht und feucht von Tränen,
In den Augen schlummerlosen Brand,
Streckt er krank und einsam, voller Sehnen,
In die leere Ferne seine Hand.
