by Heinrich Leuthold (1827 - 1879)

Am Strand
Language: German (Deutsch)
Der Hauch, der die schäumende
Meerfluth erregt,
O wie er das träumende
Herz mir bewegt!
Es wälzen sich Hügel
Von Wogen daher;
O wüchsen mir Flügel,
Ich flög' über Meer!

Einst hört' ich durch tosendes
Branden der Fluth
Zuerst dein liebkosendes:
"Bist du mir gut?"
Und denk' ich der Zeiten,
So fühl' ich gerührt
Die klagendsten Saiten
Der Seele berührt.

Schon glüh'n, über'm dunkelnden
Ufer entfacht,
Hoch oben die funkelnden
Leuchten der Nacht;
Dort strahlt im Gewimmel
Der glänzendste Stern...
Doch du und der Himmel
Wie seid ihr fo fern!
