by Guido (Pieter Theodoor Jozef) Gezelle (1830 - 1899)
Translation Singable translation by Elisabeth Alberdingk Thijm

Gij schepper van het lichtgewelf
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)
Gij schepper van het lichtgewelf,
onfaalbaar Licht en Waarheid zelf,
die ons verlicht en altemaal
doet leven, horkt naar onze taal.

Gij hebt ons aller schuldigheid,
zachtmoedig Lam, ter dood geleid,
mt uw onschuldig offerbloed
aan 't kruis gedempt en uitgeboet!

Wij bidden dan, o Heere, en slaat
geen eischende ooge op zondeen kwaad,
maar scheld ons, Gij die vader zijt,
alle oude schande en schulden kwijt!

Zij, God den Vader eere en kracht,
zoo God den Zone ook toegebracht;
zij God de heilge Geest, vol eer,
geprezen nu end' immermeer!

Allmächt'ger, der die Welt erschuf
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Dutch (Nederlands)
Allmächt'ger, der die Welt erschuf,
der Wahrheit, Weg und Leben ist,
o du, der Licht und Dasein uns
gespendet, hör' auf unser Fleh'n!

Du hast für uns're Sündenschuld,
sanftmütig Lamm, den Tod erwählt,
mit deinem reinen Opferblut
am Kreuz gesühnt und abgebüßt!

D'rum bitten wir dich, Herr, ach wend'
kein zürnend Aug' auf uns're Sünd';
verschon' uns, mildes Vaterherz,
und sprich uns aller Schulden los!

Ehr' Gott dem Vater, Lob und Preis
dem Sohne, der die Welt erlöst
und Gott dem heil'gen Geist, sie sei'n
gepriesen nun und immerdar!
