Im kühlen Maien
tun sich all Ding erfreuen,
Die Blümlein auf dem Feld
sich auch erneuen,
Und singen d'Maidlein in ihren Reihen:
Willkommen Maien!
Zwei liebe Herzen
Sind voller Freud und Scherzen,
Im Schatten kühl vergessen aller Schmerzen,
Cupido blind,
Das gar listige Kind,
Gsellt sich dazu mit seinem Pfeil geschwind,
Venus allwegen
Gibt dazu ihren Segen,
Auf daß zwei Herz' sich tun in Lieb bewegen.
Wem nun dies Leben
tut wohlgefallen eben,
Der soll sich ohn Verzug
der Lieb ergeben,
Und mit den Maidlein singen im Reihen:
Willkommen Maien.

In the cool month of May
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
In the cool month of May
all things enjoy themselves,
the little flowers in the field
renew themselves again,
and the maidens sing while dancing 'round:
Welcome May!
Two loving hearts
are filled with joy and humor,
in the cool shade they forget all pain,
blind Cupid,
the cunning child, indeed,
joins them and shoots his arrow,
Venus
gives her blessing to all,
so that two hearts can come closer through love.
Anyone who takes any pleasure
in this life,
should surrender to love
without delay,
and join the maidens singing while dancing 'round:
Welcome May!
