by Albert Träger (1830 - 1912)

Ein welkes Blatt
Language: German (Deutsch)
Du bist der heitre Sonnenstrahl,
Ich aber bin das welke Blatt,
Du tändelst über Berg und Thal,
Ich liege auf der Erde matt.

Dem frischen grünen Zweige hat
Der Sonnenstrahl sich angeschmiegt,
Mitleidig schaut er auf das Blatt,
Das sterbend ihm zu Füßen liegt.

Confirmed with Gedichte von Albert Traeger, sechzehnte, vermehrte Auflage, Leipzig, Verlag von Ernst Keil's Nachfolger, 1884, p. 220.
